Clap Pull Up
A pull-up explosive enough to leave the bar, which trains the top-end speed a strict pull-up never asks for.
What it works
Whole Body
How to do it
- 1From a dead hang, pull explosively enough that your chest reaches the bar and your hands can leave it.
- 2Clap, then catch the bar and absorb the drop with slightly bent arms.
- 3Only attempt with a solid base of strict pull-ups; catching with locked arms is how elbows get hurt.
Cues that matter
- ›Pull until the chest reaches the bar
- ›Catch with slightly bent arms
- ›Never catch with the arms locked
