What it works

Chest

How to do it

  1. 1Set the bench to 30–45°; steeper turns it into a shoulder press.
  2. 2Same setup as a flat bench — shoulder blades retracted, feet planted — and lower the bar to the upper chest just below the collarbone.
  3. 3Press back up over the shoulders.
  4. 4Too steep an incline is the usual mistake and takes the chest out of it.
