Incline Bench Press
Emphasises the upper chest and front delts.
What it works
Chest
How to do it
- 1Set the bench to 30–45°; steeper turns it into a shoulder press.
- 2Same setup as a flat bench — shoulder blades retracted, feet planted — and lower the bar to the upper chest just below the collarbone.
- 3Press back up over the shoulders.
- 4Too steep an incline is the usual mistake and takes the chest out of it.
Cues that matter
- ›Bench at ~30°
- ›Bar to the upper chest
- ›Drive the feet into the floor
