Barbell Curl
Lets you load the biceps heavier than dumbbells.
What it works
Biceps
How to do it
- 1Stand tall, bar at arm's length with an underhand shoulder-width grip.
- 2Curl by bending the elbows only, keeping them pinned at your sides, then lower all the way to straight.
- 3Swinging the hips to launch the bar is the universal fault — if you need it, the weight is too heavy.
Cues that matter
- ›Elbows fixed, no swinging
- ›Curl to a full contraction
- ›Control the negative
