Side Leg Raise
Trains the muscles that hold the hip steady on one leg, which is most of what running actually asks of them.
What it works
Legs
How to do it
- 1Lie on your side, body in a straight line.
- 2Raise the top leg as high as it will go without the hips rolling back, then lower under control.
- 3Rolling backward to get more height is the standard fault — keep the hips stacked.
Cues that matter
- ›Body in a straight line on your side
- ›Raise the top leg as high as it goes
- ›Keep the hips stacked, do not roll back
