Push Jerk
Teaches you to drop under a bar rather than press it, which is where the extra weight over a push press comes from.
What it works
Whole Body
How to do it
- 1Dip and drive as for a push press, but as the bar leaves the shoulders, drop back under it by re-bending the knees and catch it locked out overhead in a partial squat.
- 2Then stand up.
- 3The skill is receiving the bar with straight arms rather than pressing it out.
Cues that matter
- ›Dip and drive, then re-bend the knees
- ›Receive it with the arms straight
- ›Stand up once it is locked out
