Ski erg intervals
Upper-body-led conditioning that spares the legs entirely on a heavy lower week.
What it works
Back, Core, Cardio
How to do it
- 1Stand tall with the handles overhead, then drive down by hinging at the hips and crunching the trunk, finishing with the hands past your thighs.
- 2It's a hip hinge, not an arm pull — the power comes from folding at the hips and using your bodyweight.
- 3Return under control to full extension before the next stroke.
- 4It's kind on the legs, which makes it a good conditioning option when your legs are already beaten up from training.
Cues that matter
- ›Hinge at the hips, don't just pull with the arms
- ›Finish the stroke past your hips
- ›Stay tall between reps
