Skipping
Builds an engine and calf stiffness at once, and fits in any space with no machine.
What it works
Calves, Cardio
How to do it
- 1Turn the rope with the wrists, not the arms, and keep the elbows tucked in near the ribs.
- 2Stay on the balls of the feet with small hops, barely leaving the floor — a couple of centimetres is plenty.
- 3Keep the shoulders relaxed and look ahead rather than down at your feet.
- 4Start with steady two-foot bouncing and only add single-leg or double-unders once you can hold a full minute without tripping.
Cues that matter
- ›Small hops, stay on the balls of the feet
- ›Turn the rope from the wrists, not the shoulders
- ›Land quietly — noise is wasted force
