GK low & high diving
Correct diving technique covers more goal and protects the shoulder on landing.
What it works
Glutes, Quads, Obliques
How to do it
- 1From a set position, push explosively off the leg nearest the ball — never step across first, which costs you distance and time — attack the ball with your top hand leading, and land on your side with the ball, not on your elbow or shoulder.
- 2Work low dives before high ones.
- 3Good technique covers more of the goal and, just as importantly, keeps your shoulder intact over a season.
Cues that matter
- ›Push off the near leg, don't step across
- ›Attack the ball with the top hand
- ›Land on the side, not the elbow
