Single-arm lat pulldown
Finds and fixes a side-to-side difference that a two-handed pulldown hides completely.
What it works
Lats, Biceps
How to do it
- 1Kneel or sit at a high cable with one handle.
- 2Let the working shoulder rise fully at the top so the lat is stretched, then drive the elbow down toward the hip and let the shoulder blade travel with it.
- 3Return slowly to the full stretch.
- 4Keep the torso square — twisting to finish the rep is the mistake, and it is also the tell that the weight is too heavy for the side you are testing.
Cues that matter
- ›Let the shoulder rise fully at the top
- ›Drive the elbow down to the hip
- ›Keep the torso still — no twisting to finish
